TUGCE AFACAN
The Artist
Art is the silent dialogue between the seen and the felt. My philosophy centers on the convergence of contemporary luxury and raw emotion, translated through the elegant lens of Vigour Noir.
THE BIOGRAPHY
Tugce Afacan is a contemporary abstract artist based in Melbourne, working through material, surface, and controlled composition to create works that extend beyond the image into physical presence.
Her practice explores the relationship between presence and absence, where light and darkness, permanence and impermanence, and silence and form coexist in quiet balance.
Each work holds a sense of clarity and presence, shaped through material depth, layered surfaces, and her signature Canvas on Canvas technique. This process transforms each work beyond a traditional painting, allowing it to exist as both image and object.
Working predominantly in black, white, and gold, Afacan has developed a visual language grounded in duality. Black anchors the composition, white introduces openness, while gold acts as a concentrated material presence—carrying intensity and value within the surface.
Through her studio, Vigour Noir, Afacan produces original works that merge contemporary abstraction with sculptural presence. Her work invites stillness and attention, offering a visual experience where simplicity reveals complexity.
