BIRDIE

Birdie explores delicacy, freedom and the quiet beauty of presence.

Constructed using Vigour Noir’s signature Canvas-on-Canvas technique, an additional arch-shaped canvas forms the foundation of the work. The surface is developed through varied beige treatments, creating subtle shifts in tone, texture and depth.

At the centre, a large sculptural bird emerges through multiple layers of texture. Beneath the surface, layers of gold reveal themselves through the form, allowing flashes of luminosity to emerge from within the sculpture.

The bird becomes the focal point of the composition delicate in subject, yet substantial in physical presence. Its layered construction gives the figure a sense of movement and dimension, while the gold beneath suggests an inner radiance concealed within the form.

Birdie captures a sense of serene beauty and freedom, bringing together softness, materiality and light in a distinctly sculptural expression.
